Description
A deliciously classic grilled cheese sandwich inspired by Harrison Ford’s favorite style, featuring golden, buttery toasted bread with perfectly melted cheese, ideal for a comforting meal any time of day.
Ingredients
Sandwich Ingredients
- 2 slices of white or sourdough bread
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 slices of sharp cheddar cheese
- Optional: 1 slice of Swiss cheese for extra flavor
Instructions
- Preheat the Skillet: Place a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat and allow it to warm up for about 2-3 minutes.
- Butter the Bread: Spread a thin, even layer of softened unsalted butter on one side of each slice of bread. This will help achieve a golden, crispy crust.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet. Layer the sharp cheddar cheese slices (and Swiss cheese if using) evenly on top.
- Cook the Sandwich: Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bread is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
- Flip the Sandwich: Carefully flip the sandwich with a spatula and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes, pressing gently to ensure even browning and melting.
- Check and Serve: When both sides are golden and cheese is fully melted, remove the sandwich from the skillet. Let it rest for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.
Notes
- Use softened butter for easier spreading and better browning.
- For an extra melty sandwich, use a mix of cheddar and Swiss cheeses.
- Cook on medium heat to avoid burning the bread before the cheese melts.
- You can add extras like tomato slices or cooked bacon for variation.
- Serve with tomato soup or pickles for a classic combination.
