Description

These Honey Ginger Salmon Bites are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or light meal featuring tender salmon pieces glazed with a sweet and zesty honey ginger sauce. Pan-seared to perfection, they offer a perfect balance of savory, sweet, and spicy flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Salmon Bites

  • 1 lb salmon fillet, skin removed and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Honey Ginger Glaze

  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Garnish

  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Rinse and pat dry the salmon fillet. Cut into uniform 1-inch bite-sized pieces and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Make the Honey Ginger Glaze: In a small bowl, mix honey, grated ginger, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes if using until well combined.
  3. Heat the Pan: Warm the olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering but not smoking.
  4. Sear the Salmon Bites: Add salmon pieces to the hot pan in a single layer, cooking without moving them for about 2-3 minutes to develop a golden crust. Flip gently and cook another 2 minutes until the salmon is just cooked through.
  5. Add the Glaze: Pour the honey ginger glaze over the salmon in the skillet. Stir gently to coat all pieces evenly and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes allowing the sauce to thicken and glaze the salmon bites.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and transfer to a serving plate. Sprinkle sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds on top for an added crunch and fresh flavor. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Ensure salmon pieces are cut evenly for uniform cooking.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.
  • Do not overcook the salmon to keep it tender and moist.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes according to your preferred spice level or omit for no heat.
  • Serve with steamed rice or a fresh salad to make it a complete meal.
