Description

Jello Roll Ups are a fun and colorful dessert or snack made by preparing flavored gelatin into thin sheets, rolling them up, and slicing into bite-sized pinwheels. These vibrant, easy-to-make treats are perfect for parties, kids’ lunches, or a refreshing sweet snack with a jelly-like texture and fruity flavors.

Ingredients

Gelatin Sheets

  • 2 packages (3 oz each) flavored gelatin (any flavor of your choice)
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the gelatin mixture: In a large bowl, dissolve the flavored gelatin powder into 2 cups of boiling water. Stir thoroughly until the powder is completely dissolved.
  2. Add cold water: Stir in 1 cup of cold water to the gelatin mixture to cool it slightly and dilute to desired firmness.
  3. Pour onto flat surface: Pour the gelatin mixture evenly onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet or a flat tray to create a thin layer about 1/8 inch thick.
  4. Chill until set: Place the tray in the refrigerator and chill for about 3 to 4 hours, or until the gelatin is fully firm and set but still pliable.
  5. Roll the gelatin sheet: Carefully peel the gelatin sheet off the parchment paper. Start at one edge and gently roll the sheet into a tight log shape.
  6. Slice into rolls: Using a sharp knife, slice the roll into 1/2-inch thick pinwheel pieces.
  7. Serve or store: Arrange the Jello Roll Ups on a serving dish immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking when setting the gelatin.
  • You can mix different gelatin flavors for vibrant, layered roll ups.
  • Ensure the gelatin layer isn’t too thick or too thin for optimal rolling texture.
  • For added fun, sprinkle a little sugar on the slices before serving.
  • Keep refrigerated to maintain shape and freshness.
