Description

Juicy and flavorful grilled beef burgers made with simple ingredients, perfect for a classic backyard barbecue or a satisfying weeknight dinner. These burgers are seasoned to perfection and grilled to your preferred doneness, served on toasted buns with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

For the Burger Patties

  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

For Assembly

  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Onion slices
  • Pickles
  • Ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise (as desired)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, approximately 375°F to 400°F. Ensure the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.
  2. Make the Burger Patties: In a large bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4 inch thick, making a slight indentation in the center of each to prevent puffing while cooking.
  3. Grill the Burgers: Place the patties on the preheated grill. Cook for about 4 to 5 minutes on the first side without pressing down to allow a good sear. Flip the burgers and cook for another 4 minutes for medium doneness. Add cheese slices on top during the last minute to melt.
  4. Toast the Buns: Lightly butter the hamburger buns and place them cut-side down on the grill for about 1 minute until they are toasted and golden.
  5. Assemble the Burgers: Place each grilled patty onto the bottom bun. Add lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and your preferred condiments like ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For juicier burgers, use ground beef with at least 20% fat content.
  • A small indentation in the patty center helps the burger cook evenly without puffing up.
  • Adjust cooking time depending on your preferred burger doneness (rare, medium, well done).
  • Feel free to customize toppings according to your taste preferences.
  • Rest burgers for a couple of minutes after grilling to retain juices before serving.
