Description
Muffin Tin Potatoes are a delightful and crispy side dish made by roasting small potato cubes in a muffin tin to create perfectly portioned, golden-brown bites. Enhanced with a blend of seasonings and cheese, they make a flavorful and convenient accompaniment for breakfast or dinner.
Ingredients
Potatoes
- 3 large potatoes, peeled and diced into small cubes
Seasonings
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
Others
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s hot enough to roast the potatoes to crispy perfection.
- Prepare Potatoes: Peel and dice the potatoes into small, uniform cubes. This ensures they cook evenly and fit nicely in the muffin tin compartments.
- Toss with Seasonings: In a large bowl, combine the diced potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well to coat every piece evenly with the seasoning and oil.
- Fill Muffin Tin: Lightly grease a muffin tin to prevent sticking. Divide the seasoned potatoes evenly among the muffin cups, pressing them down gently to compact them for better texture and shape.
- Roast Potatoes: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and roast for about 25-30 minutes, until the potatoes are golden and crispy on the edges and tender inside.
- Add Cheese and Final Bake: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the potatoes in each muffin cup. Return the tin to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove the muffin tin from the oven and allow the potato bites to cool slightly before carefully removing them. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, soak potato cubes in cold water for 15-20 minutes before seasoning, then drain and pat dry.
- You can substitute cheddar with your favorite cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack for a different flavor.
- These muffin tin potatoes pair excellently with eggs for breakfast or as a side to grilled meats.
- If you don’t have a muffin tin, you can use a small baking dish, but the shape and portioning may vary.
