Description

Enjoy a healthy and nutritious start to your day with this simple Overnight Chia Oats recipe. This gluten-free and dairy-free breakfast combines the wholesome goodness of oats and chia seeds soaked overnight in your choice of plant-based milk, creating a creamy and satisfying meal that’s perfect for busy mornings or a nutritious snack.

Ingredients

Oats and Seeds

  • 1/2 cup gluten-free rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds

Liquid

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any other plant-based milk)

Sweeteners and Flavorings

  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Toppings (Optional)

  • Fresh berries
  • Sliced banana
  • Nuts or seeds
  • Shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl or mason jar, add the gluten-free rolled oats and chia seeds. Mix them well to ensure an even distribution of the chia seeds throughout the oats.
  2. Add Liquid and Sweetener: Pour in the almond milk, followed by the maple syrup or honey (if using) and vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly to combine all the ingredients evenly, ensuring the oats and chia seeds are fully immersed.
  3. Mix and Soak: Stir the mixture again to prevent the chia seeds from clumping together. Cover the bowl or seal the mason jar and place it in the refrigerator to soak overnight, or for at least 6 hours, allowing the oats and chia seeds to absorb the liquid and soften.
  4. Serve: In the morning, give the oats a good stir. Add your choice of fresh fruits, nuts, or other toppings before serving to add flavor and texture.
