Ingredients
- 2 cups San Marzano tomatoes (canned or fresh, crushed)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 6–8 fresh basil leaves, chopped
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Sauté chopped onion until soft, then add garlic and cook briefly.
- Add crushed San Marzano tomatoes to the pan and stir well.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Simmer gently for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- Add fresh basil and adjust seasoning to taste.
- Serve immediately or store for later use.
