Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk or heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

For the dumplings:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add onion, carrots, and celery, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.
  4. Sprinkle in flour and stir to form a light roux.
  5. Slowly add chicken broth and milk, stirring until smooth and slightly thickened.
  6. Add shredded chicken, thyme, parsley, paprika, salt, and pepper, then simmer.
  7. In a bowl, mix dumpling ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough onto the simmering chicken mixture.
  9. Cover and cook for 12–15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  10. Check that dumplings are fluffy and fully cooked before serving.
