Description

Snickers Puppy Chow is a decadent twist on the classic snack mix, combining crispy cereal coated in a rich chocolate-peanut butter mixture with chopped Snickers candy bars for a sweet and salty treat perfect for parties or casual snacking.

Ingredients

Snack Mix:

  • 9 cups Chex cereal
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 Snickers bars, chopped into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cereal: Pour the Chex cereal into a large mixing bowl and set aside for coating later.
  2. Melt Chocolate Mixture: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate chips, peanut butter, and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
  3. Add Vanilla: Stir the vanilla extract into the melted chocolate mixture to enhance the flavor.
  4. Coat the Cereal: Pour the chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the Chex cereal. Gently fold with a spatula to evenly coat all the cereal pieces without crushing them.
  5. Coat with Powdered Sugar: Transfer the coated cereal mixture into a large resealable plastic bag or a container with a lid. Add the powdered sugar, seal, and shake thoroughly until the cereal pieces are well coated with powdered sugar.
  6. Add Snickers Pieces: Gently fold the chopped Snickers bars into the coated cereal mixture by hand to distribute evenly throughout the puppy chow.
  7. Cool and Serve: Spread the puppy chow out on a baking sheet or large plate to cool and set for about 10 minutes before serving. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

  • For easier melting, use high-quality chocolate chips and room temperature peanut butter.
  • Be careful when folding to avoid breaking the cereal pieces.
  • This puppy chow is best consumed within 3 days for optimal freshness.
  • Can be customized with other candy bars or nuts for additional texture.
