Description
A fun and spooky twist on traditional tacos, the Spider Taco Ring is a savory ring of seasoned ground beef and melted cheese wrapped in crescent roll dough, baked to golden perfection. This creative recipe is perfect for Halloween or any festive occasion, combining the flavors of a classic taco with a visually striking presentation that resembles a spider web.
Ingredients
Meat Filling
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix (about 1 oz)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1/2 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped black olives (optional)
Dough
- 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
For Serving
- Sour cream
- Salsa
- Guacamole
- Shredded lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
Instructions
- Prepare the Meat Filling: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat. Add taco seasoning and water, stirring to combine, then simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Assemble the Crescent Roll Layers: Unroll one can of crescent roll dough onto a greased round baking sheet, pressing seams together to form a solid layer. Spread half of the taco meat evenly over the dough. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Add the Second Layer: Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough and place it carefully over the meat and cheese layer, again pressing seams to seal and form a second layer.
- Shape the Ring: Using a sharp knife, cut the layered dough into 16 equal strips radiating from the center, leaving an intact circle in the middle. Twist each strip two or three times away from the center to create a spider web effect.
- Bake the Taco Ring: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the taco ring for 15-20 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes. Serve with sour cream, salsa, guacamole, lettuce, and diced tomatoes for dipping and topping.
Notes
- Optional vegetables like bell peppers, onions, and black olives can be added for extra flavor and texture.
- Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to make clean strips in the dough for easy twisting.
- The taco ring can be customized with your favorite taco toppings and dips.
- For a spicier version, add chopped jalapeños or hot sauce to the meat filling.
- Allow the ring to cool slightly before serving to avoid burns from the hot filling.
