Ingredients
Crust
- 2 cups crushed pretzels
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Filling
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped until stiff peaks form
Topping
- 2 (3 oz) packages strawberry gelatin (Jell-O)
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
Instructions
- Prepare the crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine crushed pretzels and sugar. Add melted butter and stir until mixture resembles wet sand. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish, creating an even layer. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
- Make the filling: In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese and sugar together until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in the whipped heavy cream, mixing until combined and fluffy. Spread this cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust, smoothing the top.
- Prepare the strawberry topping: Dissolve the strawberry gelatin in boiling water, stirring until fully dissolved. Let the gelatin cool slightly but not set. Arrange fresh sliced strawberries evenly over the cream cheese layer. Carefully pour the cooled but liquid gelatin over the strawberries, ensuring even coverage.
- Chill and set: Refrigerate the salad for at least 4 hours or until the gelatin is fully set. Once firm, slice and serve chilled.
Notes
- Make sure the pretzel crust is completely cooled before adding the cream cheese filling to prevent melting.
- Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor and presentation.
- For a lighter version, substitute part of the heavy cream with Greek yogurt in the filling.
- This dessert is best served chilled and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- To crush pretzels easily, place them in a ziplock bag and crush with a rolling pin or use a food processor.
